Hyundai Alcazar: The Hyundai Alcazar has established a clear space for itself in the crowded Indian car market in terms of space, luxury and features in the mid-size SUV segment.

Sold as a more premium model to its five-seat sibling, the Creta, the Alcazar adds three-row flexibility to families wanting more space without compromising on the driving experience or features.

Hyundai Alcazar: Design Philosophy

Hyundai Alcazar

The Alcazar’s exterior is a nice blend of classy and road presence. Though it’s got a longer wheelbase (and overall length) than the Creta, the Sonet has been made to look as if it’s pretty compact due to tight fitting proportions.

Its front fascia makes use of an exclusive cascading grille with the geometrical design that instantly gives it a premium Hyundai touch.

Up front, the split LED headlamp arrangement with daytime running lights forms a signature aesthetic statement, whereas the sculpted hood and character lines along the profile lend an air of dynamism.

At the back, the wrap-around tail lights are joined together with a chrome strip and give the car a sense of luxury and the dual-tip exhaust finishers also give the hint of a beast under the bonnet. Riding on stylish diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels and roomy enough for the whole family.

Cabin Experience

Hyundai Alcazar- Walk into the Alcazar, and the prime product placement is immediately clear. The dashboard is made up of smooth horizontal lines with brushed aluminum touches and soft-touch materials that brighten the driving environment.

With flexible seating options in both six and seven-seater layouts, Alcazar allows customers an option of space as per their needs.

In the six-seater version, the second-row captain seats are a headliner here, thanks to their Excellent longterm comfort with adjustable armrests and good recline angles.

The one-touch tumble also makes a difficult maneuver—the third row seat—easier to do in most three-row vehicles, improving on that pain point.

Smart touches are everywhere, from the front-row seatback tables with flip-up cup holders to the various charging ports positioned through all three rows, which ensures ease of connected convenience to all passengers.

Hyundai Alcazar- Performance Credentials

The Alcazar is available in two engine options – a 2.0-litre petrol engine making in the vicinity of 159hp and a 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes in the neighbourhood of 115bhp.

Both are available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, offering options to cater to a variety of driving preferences.

The way the suspension has been fine-tuned to manage the extra weight and length over the Creta gives it a planted feel that belies its three-row layout.

Hydraulic rebound stoppers in the front struts do a great job sponging up road imperfections and the rear multi-link suspension does an excellent job trading off comfort with stability.

Technology Integration

The Alcazar also demonstrates Hyundai’s technological advancement through the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with connected car technology. Feature-wise, the modern cockpit layout with large digital instrument cluster will likely be appreciated by technology-oriented consumers.

With the Bose premium sound system, passengers can enjoy music in the clear and natural sound environment, and the panoramic sunroof adds to the feeling of openness in the cabin. Driver aids like a blind-spot view monitor, 360-degree camera and adaptive cruise control are offered on upper trims.

Practical Considerations

Hyundai Alcazar- Even if the Alcazar has three rows, the space inside is distributed well on the inside. Boot space with all seats in use isn’t massive but copes with weekend luggage – fold the third row and it will accommodate more than you’d expect.

The floor of the second row is almost flat, which improves the comfort of the middle occupants in the seven-seater form.

Fuel economy is decent for the segment too, with the diesel returning an average of about 18 km to the litre and the petrol returning around 14.5 km/l in mixed driving. Hyundai’s generous warranty means that there’s likely to be no concerns about the quality of the car for the next purchaser.

Market Positioning

The Alcazar goes up against the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700 in the fast-growing segment. What sets the Alcazar apart is its accentuation on premium attributes, superior driving experience, and Hyundai’s strong legacy of quality and servicing.

The price point places it as an aspirational upgrade for existing Creta customers or families looking for a premium three-row experience without venturing into luxury SUV segment.

Ownership Experience

The broadest service span of Hyundai India further adds to the ownership proposition, where there is uniformity in service costs and easy availability of spare parts.

The brand’s digital service measures enable owners to make appointments and monitor service progress and vehicle records on their smartphone.
