Maruti Ertiga 2025: In a family friendly nation where generations ride together in a single car on weekend getaways because you know, family always comes first; Maruti Suzuki has just launched the all-new 2025 Ertiga – a complete overhaul of their best selling MPV in a bid to further entrench it as the nation’s favourite family mover.

The new Ertiga, which was introduced in New Delhi tonight, is a vast improvement over its previous iteration, while still being a sensible, cost-effective choice that characterised its predecessors.

Maruti Ertiga 2025 Evolution, Not Revolution

Maruti Ertiga 2025

Maruti Ertiga 2025 The 2025 Ertiga follows very much the same formula that has contributed to its popularity as a common sight on Indian highways.

Instead, Maruti has worked on depth improvements to answer the noticements that have been received from customers throughout the prior car’s life.

“We found that Ertiga customers are looking for three key factors – space utilization, fuel efficiency and dependability”, states Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director, Maruti Suzuki India.

“Instead of an overhaul, we’ve focused on refining these essential elements and brought forward modern enhancements that today’s families demand.”

The same focus can be seen on the outside; the shape of the car remains familiar but has been updated with modern elements.

At the front, a broad grille with horizontal chrome bars that appears wider than it is is now flanked by slimmer LED headlamps sporting unique daylight runners.

The side profile doesn’t alter much, except for new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, but the rear gets connected LED tail-lamps that lend a premium air.

The 2025 Ertiga comes in six colours, which include the new ‘Splendid Silver’ and ‘Auburn Red’.It looks far more upmarket, without pissing off the existing client that account for the bulk of its sales!

Space Craft Engineering

It’s inside where the biggest changes are felt. Design Maruti’s designers have gone on to redesign the interior layout to maximize further for usable space within the existing footprint with what they call “Space Craft Engineering.”

One of the major changes you notice, when you slip in to the driver’s seat, is the new dashboard design, which appears to be a bit more horizontal to give it a feeling of greater girth.

At its center — both literally and figuratively — is a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Sits underneath it is a redesigned climate control panel with physical buttons – a sensible decision given how hard touch-based climate controls are to use while driving on the less-than-ideal roads of India.

Special emphasis has been placed on seat comfort. The front seats have more bolstering and armrests that adjust, and the middle row has reclining backrests with a more aggressive contour.

That pauper-punishment option – the third row, which often starts to look the part in a segment this size – has been rethought with slightly higher mounting points and better padding, and it’s legitimately usable for adults on short trips.

‘We have given 15mm more leg-room on the 3rd row without sacrificing any luggage space,” says Chief Engineer Rajesh Uppal.

“It’s the sum of these kinds of small improvements, over all three rows, which really start to make the difference in a long-haul flying experience.”

There are storage nooks aplenty in the cabin, as well, with the list now including cooled front cup holders, seat back pockets and an overhead console for sunglasses.

The boot space is versatile, accommodating 209 litres with all seats up and stretching to a massive 803 litres with the third row flat.

Powertrains for the Long Haul

Powering the 2025 Ertiga are two engines, both with an attention for long-distance efficiency. The 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine gains mild hybrid support and pumps out 105hp and 138Nm.

This can be mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, which replaces the the old 4-speed one.

The real highlight though, has got to be Maruti’s debut entry into this segment with its new 1.5-litre, diesel engine, which though new for the Indian market, is however, not entirely new as it underpins the Ciaz, but make no mistake, it’s good to see the carmaker back in the game, as after its diesel line up was quiet untimely phased out after the BS6 transition.

Boasting 100PS and a meaty 240NM of torque, this engine is designed for families who do long highway runs the most.

Fuel efficiency figures are understandably impressive on both choices – 20.3 km/l is the figure claimed by Mahindra for the petrol-hybrid and 24.8 km/l for the diesel on the former’s test cycles.

Paired to the 50-litre fuel tank, on paper, the diesel Ertiga offers a range that exceeds 1,200km up on full tank – ideal for some longer family trips to relatives across the country or holidays out of town.

Tech for Connected Families

Acknowledging the fact that today’s family is not just looking for a people mover, Maruti has enhanced the technology stack significantly.

The same 10.25-inch infotainment system is now paired with Suzuki Connect that adds such features as geo-fencing, remote vehicle access and live vehicle tracking – handy for those with families who share the car between drivers.

The traditional gauge array has been replaced by a 7-inch digital display capable of multiple layouts of information, and a wireless charging pad that can charge two devices at once, a nod to the back seat power needs of smartphone-dependent families.

There is also the optional rear entertainment package (not on the base or SXT models), which provides 10.1-inch ceiling-mounted screens for second-row occupants that can use separate zones for audio — possibly ending the sibling rivalry over what when and where to watch during long trips.

Safety First Approach

Safety aspects have been taken care of as six airbags are standard across all grades – a preemptive measure against upcoming norms possibly, while also addressing the rising safety consciousness of Indian consumers.

Strengthened with the use of high-tensile steel in the most critical areas, the active safety features comprise Electronic Stability Control, Hill Hold Assist, and a first-in-segment 360-degree camera that is useful when parking in cramps areas near tourist spots.

“The concept of road safety among Indian families is changing,” says Shashank Srivastava, Sr. Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales.

“Today’s parents want their family vehicle to be on par with global safety standards and the 2025 Ertiga brings exactly that.”

Maruti Ertiga 2025 Market Position and Distribution

Which also holds true for the 2025 Ertiga, priced from ₹8.49 lakh to ₹13.95 lakh (ex-showroom), a value statement that has kept the Ertiga performing within Maruti’s portfolio.

This price point makes it a budget-friendly, but comprehensive vehicle tracking software ideal for joint families, small businesses and fleet managers.

Bookings for the vehicle will commence next week at the 2,300-plus dealership network of Maruti, while deliveries are to start ahead of the summer vacations – a critical period given the K10’s standing as a popular model for family getaways during school breaks.

With increasing propensity among Indian families for domestic tourism and road travel post-pandemic, the 2025 Ertiga appears well placed to benefit from this trend with it comfortable mix of practicality, frugality and modern features.

Be it the mountain getaway for the weekend, the pilgrimage to that faraway teple or the annual trip back to the roots in the village, Maruti has built this MPV so that this, here, would be more comfortable for a whole generation born inside it.
